HAHA this might be my favorite pun yet. I get so excited every week to pick a new stupid pun that I will be laughing for too long at.
Hellooooo everyone and welcome back to Cooking Through Hyrule! This week I wanted to pick a recipe that was both yummy and also super practical for anyone, especially college students, to make on a budget – a Vegetable Omelette!
To make an Omelette in Breath of the Wild, you only need 4 ingredients: any vegetable, a bird egg, butter and salt. I had to go hunt for some bird eggs (in the game of course), and that actually took me longer than I expected it too. Birds hide their nests in some hidden places, like hidden in a really tall tree or way on top of a mountain. It makes it like an egg scavenger hunt! I knew I wanted to use peppers as my vegetable of choice, so I grabbed some from a nearby bush. These spicy peppers can be found all over Hyrule, but they’re most common around colder regions. These peppers, when cooked into a dish, provide cold resistance so you will not lose health due to the bitter cold.
Once I whipped up the omelette in the game it was time to do it in real life! I do have a confession to make: I actually HATE eggs. I think they’re disgusting and they smell bad and I have zero desire to eat them. But I love to cook them! Eggs are one of the first things my mom ever taught me to cook, so I do enjoy it. Just don’t make me eat them.

Time to cook!! First, you have to chop up the peppers. I used about 1/4 of red bell pepper, and diced it up into small enough pieces to fit nicely in the omelette.
Next it was time to scramble the eggs up. I cracked two eggs into a bowl, added in some salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then whisked it all together until they were the consistency of scrambled eggs.
Pour the scrambled eggs into a hot pan that has been coated with oil or butter ( I personally prefer butter, but it doesn’t really matter). You want to let the eggs sit in the pan without touching them or the pan for a minute or two, to let one side get pretty solid. You’ll know it’s working because the edges will start to firm up. Now it’s time to add our toppings!

The key with omelette toppings is to add them at the perfect time; you want to drop them in when the egg is still runny enough that they get cooked inside the omelette, but firm enough that it’s had a bit of time to cook. Let the egg sit for another minute or so with the toppings. Then it’s time to fold our omelette!

Fold the omelette over just in half to give it that actual omelette shape. After you fold it, flip it completely over to give the other side a chance to cook. After that, you’re done! That’s it!

I was actually super impressed with my omelette cooking skills and how it turned out. Omelettes are so easy to make, and they can be a great filling meal for college students on a budget, especially since you can customize them with so many different fillings. Since I hate eggs, I made my parents and grandfather try it to see what they thought:
(My mother would not let me take her picture. She yelled at me when I told her that I was going to put her on my blog.) They loved it!
I know this week was a little more serious and lacked a lot of my stupid humor, but I really wanted to give you guys an actual practical meal that you can make. Damn that is a picture-perfect omelette. I’m happy this week was more successful for you! We love a thriving girl! But I agree that the more challenging meals make more a blog post. I am, however, glad we got to verify your success based on your dad’s face, there’s no arguing with that! Your family pictures were both adorable and funny. Can’t wait for next week!

First off great pun! Although very surprising you don’t like eating eggs, its still really cool you enjoy cooking especially for your family. When I make omelettes I usually add spinach, cheese, ham and bacon (the spinach makes me feel better after reading the meats). Maybe you could do make a dessert that a college student would find relatively easy to make, for example I’ve seen a variety of microwave mug recipes (seems weird but the outcome looks pretty decent) in which it only takes less than 5 minutes to create. Regardless can’t wait to see what recipe you have for next week!

That omelette looks delicious. I’m shocked you didn’t eat it! But we do know it tastes as good as it looks based on the family pictures you included. I haven’t had my breakfast or lunch yet, and reading this made me so hungry. I think I’m going to head down to my kitchen and use your recipe to whip one up right now! I’ll be using broccoli and cheese though…I love that combo in an omelette!

I too dislike eggs, but your framing of the plate made me almost want to eat it. Almost. You seem like you’re having a lot of fun!! I think its really interesting how you don’t like eggs but enjoy cooking them! I don’t know how anyone could resist a yummy omelette. But great post and can’t wait for next week 🙂

I think this has been the best pun so far in your blogs. The blog again was very well put together and I really enjoyed the pictures you used. The media in this blog was excellent in showing the steps of making the omelette. I never really like omelettes but this inspired me to give your recipe. Can’t wait for the next blog.

I have no interest in cooking nor do I know how to cook a lot of dishes except the very very simple ones, you have kept me entertained through this blog post! I felt like I was cooking with you as I read your post. Honestly, maybe you should make your own Youtube series based on these blog posts? Maybe? Give it a try. Now I’m hungry. Great post!
